For children ages 2 and up. Experience the world in other languages. Funding provided by a grant to the Library Foundation of Hennepin County from the Comcast Foundation.
Preschool Storytime

For children ages 4 to 6. Help your preschooler get ready to read. Enjoy stories together and build language skills.

For kids through preschool. Dhammaan caruurta ka yar da’ dugsi. Ka soo qaybgal sheekooyin caruur, heeso iyo hawlo waxbarasho. Join us for stories, songs and activities! Presented in collaboration with the Resources for Child Caring.
Sock Puppet Workshop
Friday, Dec. 11, 3:30 p.m.
For kids in grade 2 and up. Take an everyday sock and turn it into something creative! Join other kids in making fun sock creatures to take home. Supplies provided.
Swedish Stories
Wednesday, Dec. 16, 10:30 a.m.
For kids in preschool. Learn about Swedish holidays and traditions. Sponsored by the American Swedish Institute.
Kids Book Club
Friday, Dec. 18, 4 p.m.
For kids in grades 4-6. Join other kids to talk about a great book! No pre-reading required! We will share a story and discuss.

Game On! Gaming Tuesdays
Tuesdays, Dec. 1 – 29, 4–6 p.m.
For teens in grade 6 and up. Play PS2 or Wii games at the library! Grab a friend, bring your favorite board or card game, or play ours!

Wednesdays, Dec. 2 – 30, 4–5 p.m. For teens in grade 6 and up. Play PS2 or Wii games at the library! Grab a friend, bring your favorite board or card game, or play ours!
Teen Center Reading Club
Wednesdays, Dec. 2 – 30, 5–6 p.m. For teens in grade 6 and up. Come get cozy! Stretch out on the couches, chairs, or floor and settle in to read aloud or just listen – books, short stories, current events, it’s up to you. No need to read anything ahead of time.
Design Club
Thursdays, Dec. 3, 10 & 17, 4–6 p.m. For teens in grade 6 and up. Get creative! Design and take home T-shirts, posters, jewelry, magnets and other creations. Check out the posters at Franklin Library to see what project is coming up!
Articulture ArtSlam Grand Finale
Thursday, Dec. 3, 6–8 p.m. For teens in grade 6 and up. Enjoy an open mic poetry event featuring teens from previous ArtSlam workshops. Travel with the teen program specialist to Central Library (300 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis). Tokens for public transportation will be provided.
Tronix Team
Tuesdays, December 8, 15, 22, 29 & Jan. 5, 6–7:45 p.m. For teens in grade 6 and up. Learn basic circuitry as you modify a regular lunch box into a fully functional boom box with MP3 player. Learning never sounded so good!
Group Games
Thursdays, Dec. 10, Jan. 7 & 21, Feb. 4 & 18, 6 –7 p.m. For teens in grade 6 and up. No consoles needed! Learn social games designed for large groups of all ages: Charades, Wink, Mafia, Whiz Bam, Thumper, Taboo and others. Sure to make you laugh!
Music Listening Club
Thursdays, Dec. 10, Jan. 7 & 21, Feb. 4 & 18, 7 – 8 p.m. For teens in grade 6 and up. Listen to the sounds of Kanye West, Mos Def, NAS and local artists such as Desdemona, Brother Ali and more! Focus will be on the lyrics, reading them as poems and listening to the way they’re recited through the songs.
Movement and Dance Studio
Thursdays, Dec. 17, Jan. 14 & 28, Feb. 11 & 25, 6 – 8 p.m.
For teens in grade 6 and up. Time to move the furniture aside and practice dance moves, learn new ones, do yoga, create choreography and lots more!

Microsoft PowerPoint: Multimedia Tips

Use multimedia tips and tricks such as auto transitions, audio and video to dress up your presentations. Prerequisite: Microsoft PowerPoint: Basics or familiarity with presentation software is highly recommended.
