Lake Street Council Update

Change is constant on Lake Street, and some big changes recently extended to the Lake Street Council Board of Directors. At our annual meeting we welcomed a new board president, vice president, and director at-large. Get to know them a little better here.

Dave is a key part in the success of the Midtown Exchange and has taken a lead role in working towards a more active and prosperous Lake Street. Dave has more than 28 years of management experience behind him, and currently serves as Director of Management at Ryan Companies.

Vice President: Candice Washington, Abbott Northwestern Hospital
With her 22 years of service at Abbott Northwestern and as a resident of Phillips, Candice’s knowledge of and experience with Lake Street and its communities is incredibly valuable. Candice is currently Manager of Emergency Preparedness and Community Relations for Abbott Northwestern.

Director At-Large: Morgan Zehner, Zehner Consulting
Morgan brings a variety of needed skills to our board, including fundraising development, marketing research and strategy, strategic planning, and technical assistance. He founded Zehner Consulting in June of 2008 and is a is a proud resident of Powderhorn.

Wrapping utility boxes

Lake Street Council is working with the City of Minneapolis to wrap City-owned utility boxes with eye-catching designs. This is a perfect way to prevent graffiti and to turn an ugly utility box into a piece of art, and we want to make this process easier for everyone involved.

The City of Minneapolis is hiring artists to design 12 pre-approved wrap covers for utility boxes. LSC is very interested giving the utility boxes on our corridor this facelift, and we are looking for businesses in the area to sponsor the wraps.

If you are interested in sponsoring a utility box near your business or property, please contact ZoeAna Martinez at 612-822-1912 today. We are still in the process of working out all the details of costs, which will be based on the number of boxes.
