Multimedia “funktavist” Rory Wakemup leverages the familiar story of Star Wars to entertainingly challenge beliefs surrounding the forces of good and evil and whether only a select few can achieve true “balance” with the universe. Vibrant Traditions: Scandinavian Weaving in the Midwest

The focus of this exhibit at the Hennepin County Historical Society is Phillips’ own historic Minneapolis Pioneers and Soldiers Cemetery. Shining a light on individuals buried in the cemetery, In Memoriam asks what a cemetery can tell us about ourselves and the history we share with the deceased. After co-commissioning Invisible Fences for a sold-out run in 2023, Open Eye is finally bringing it back to Twin Cities audiences. Singer-songwriter Gaelynn Lea and storyteller-playwright Kevin Kling combine their talents in this original musical fable which weaves together storytelling and song to create a unique theatrical experience that is rich in the wit and wisdom inherent in Disability Culture.
Performances will include ASL interpretation, projected captioning, and narrated audio descriptions at the beginning of each scene to help blind and low-vision audience members better place themselves in the worlds being presented. Finding Your Family: An African American Genealogy Workshop

This workshop will encourage you to dig into your genealogy and discover more of your family’s history! Many popular genealogical tools have a reputation for being limited when it comes to African American genealogy, but databases are being added. In this workshop, you will learn how to navigate Ancestry.com, FamilySearch.org, and the National Archives to find your African American ancestors.
