PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH & FAMILIES

Let’s Read!

(Grades K-5)

Starts Sept. 8th

Tuesdays/Thursdays:  4 – 7:30 PM

Saturdays: 2 – 5 PM

Free in-person reading support for K-5 students. Students and trained volunteer tutors meet weekly one-on-one to work on grade level reading skills.

Homework Help 

(Grades K-12) 

Starts Sept. 8th

Tuesdays/Thursdays: 4 – 7:30 PM 

Saturdays: 2 – 5 PM

Free in-person tutoring for K-12 students. No advance sign-up needed.

Connect & Play

Thursday, Sept. 25th

3:30 – 4:30 PM

For children of all ages and their caregivers. Connect with your child during this drop-in program exploring early literacy activities. A licensed Family Educator from Way to Grow will provide support and resources for parents and caregivers.  

STEAM Workshop  

(Ages 8+) 

Starts Sept. 10th

Wednesdays: 5 – 6 PM

Drop in for fun and creative STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) experiments and projects! Materials provided. Led by Franklin Library’s teen STEAM Squad.

PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS

Pizza Bus

Wednesday, Sept. 3rd

4:30  – 7 PM

Join Franklin Library for a community meal on the lawn, featuring the Sisters Camelot Pizza Bus! Free food for all, starting around 4:30 pm. 

Coffee & Conversation 

Every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month

12:30 – 2 PM

Join Franklin Library staff for free coffee & conversations with neighbors. 

Craft Club
Every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month

3 – 5 PM
For adults 18 and up. Craft and create with your library community. All skill levels are welcome. Crafts will focus on knitting, crochet, embroidery, hand-sewing and papercrafts. Materials provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own projects or start something new. 

HIV/STD Testing and Wound Care
Friday, Sept. 29th

10 AM – 12 PM
Drop in and for free HIV/STD testing from Native American Community Clinic and wound care provided by the U of M’s Mobile Health Care Initiative. No registration required.  

PROGRAMS FOR SENIORS

Creative Movement for Seniors

Saturday, Sept. 27th

1 – 2 PM

Designed for people of varying degrees of physical and cognitive ability. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle if possible. Led by COMPAS Teaching Artist Karla Nweje. Collaborator: COMPAS. This program is funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Do you consider yourself crafty? 

Join us and become a Craft Club Volunteer! Craft Club occurs the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month from 3 – 5 pm. It is a place where people of all crafting abilities can come together to practice their skills, learn new ones, teach each other, share their experiences, and make connections through the common love of crafting.
