Arikara Proper is a solo exhibition featuring a collection of paintings from artist J. White (Arikara). A self-taught painter, White shares and celebrates her Northern Plains culture through the lens of an urban Indian, relying on personal experience to feed her creativity and prescribe identity, and expressing passion on her canvas in a way that’s palpable. Join Quatrefoil Library for a series featuring authors reading from their memoirs! The upcoming lineup includes authors Aarron Sholar, Leo Rodriguez, Lynette Raini-Grandell, and Sam Zimmerman. Readings will be followed by a Q&A with the authors, and a social hour that may include opportunities to purchase signed copies of the books read. Check Quatrefoil’s facebook page for details on each event.
Note: The August 4 reading will begin at 1pm; readings on August 10 and 17, and September 1st will begin at 2pm. It is going to be a fun summer, and we hope to see you there!

Got Talent? is a performance of original short acts on the theme of hidden (or not so hidden) talents created in collaboration with participants of zAmya’s Theater Project’s Creative Expression Session summer workshops. The vignettes will be drawn from the lives of participants, the majority of whom are currently and/or formerly unhoused. Expect to be surprised by the abundance of talent in this community!
The performance will take place at the Downtown Minneapolis Street Art Festival, a free 2-day event featuring chalk and spray art, murals, performance, craft, food and fun! Everyone is welcome – no pre-registration is needed. Once confirmed, our specific location within the festival will be posted at zamyatheater.org and on our social media pages!

James Samuel “Cornbread” Harris Sr. is a Minneapolis-based singer, pianist, and composer with a large repertoire influenced by blues and jazz. A performer on Minnesota’s first rock ‘n’ roll record, he still puts on a great show full of spirit and humor at 97 years old. This event is part of the North Star Blues Exchange.
