the NEW Alley Communications Community Connector! Alley Communications, nonprofit publisher of the alley, has created a new part-time staff position, the Community Connector. We sought someone who has a close relationship with the Phillips Community, and interests and skills that would support the growth of the alley and its publisher, Alley Communications. “Throughout my career, I’ve worked across various industries, from human rights advocacy to business consulting. My experience includes managing marketing for large-scale events, creating social campaigns, and utilizing data-driven insights to strengthen outreach efforts. I’m especially passionate about using communications to build authentic community relationships and create positive change. Violence Evolved from Employee Requests vs. Owner and Police Responses By TOM BEER “Massacre at Flour City: The Deadly Battle over Labor rights Summer 1935.”This exhibit tells the story of when “All Hell broke loose” in the south Minneapolis area nicknamed the Hub of Hell at 26th Av. & 26th St. 90 years ago, September 11, 1935. The graphic historical display uses photos, newspaper clippings, maps, and first-hand accounts to recount the local, violent labor struggle. It will be shown at the Vine Arts Gallery in the Ivy Building for the Arts, 2637 27th Av. So.—the former Flour City Ornamental Iron— where the dramatic events described here, happened. Flour City Ornamental Iron Building, 1935, windows damaged during the Strike. The business moved from its 1893 start-up blacksmith shop at 506 4th Av. from the series Raise Your Voice... By PETER MOLENAAR Peter Molenaar The stately apartment complex at 2615 Park Avenue was Marv’s home for a spell before his final passing in the year 2012. As a member of the War Resisters League, he had famously given leadership to the Honeywell Project, which exposed the corporate war profiteering of the day. Note: My generation still recalls the image of Vietnamese children running naked beneath clouds of napalm… their skin melting away. June 7, 2025… Beneath the banner of Women Against Military Madness, we marched upon the headquarters of Lockheed Martin, Inc., an outfit which profits from precision guided Hellfire missiles, deployed to take out journalists in Gaza.
