It’s All About Your Point of View

from the series Peace House Community Journal... By MARTI MALTBY Marti Maltby My daughter and I enjoy watching the British murder mystery comedy series Death In Paradise. In many ways, it is mindless fun, and as with most mysteries, there is a plot twist somewhere along the way that leads to the unmasking of the murderer. Of course, the plot twist is always in the mind of the viewer; the writers knew what was going to happen all along, and if they had written the story from the murderer’s point of view, there would be no mystery to solve. All the suspects’ lies, the lines of investigation that go nowhere, the clues that end up mislead the investigation … all of it falls into place and seems quite reasonable once you know the solution (if the mystery is well-written, that is). I know the same thing happens in real life, but despite that, it can be difficult to escape my own point of view. Free Mentoring Program Nurtures Youth at East Phillips Park

Parkside Pathways is open to youth 14 and under By ADRIAN WATERS Parkside Pathways is a free group mentoring program designed to support youth under the age of 14 through engaging discussions, interactive activities, and positive relationship-building. Held twice a month, every other Wednesday, at East Phillips Park’s Recreation Center (2307 17th Ave. S.), the program provides a welcoming space where young participants can connect with mentors, explore personal growth, and develop key life skills. Sessions focus on topics such as academics, goal setting, leadership, and overcoming challenges—all in a fun and supportive environment. Sessions are held from 4:00-6:00 PM, but youth are welcome to come earlier if needed. The next sessions will take place on March 12th and 26th. Youth who participate consistently will also have the opportunity to attend quarterly field trips, offering enriching experiences outside of the rec center.
