MayDay is Back!

MayDay is Back!

In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre’s MayDay Season 2022 will look different than MayDays past! There will not be a parade. There will be amazing public celebrations. Save the Date for May 1 Kalpulli KetzalCoatlicue and the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Coalition (MIRAC) are organizing a political and cultural festival for Sunday, May 1. The festival will be a block party off Lake Street with a stage for dancers and speakers, food, family-friendly art activities, and more. The intention is to collaborate with a multitude of communities living and working on Lake Street. The block party is a space for protest, celebration, and healing. Kalpulli KetzalCoatlicue and MIGIZI have been engaging youth and families in their networks in art making workshops with local teaching artists to prepare. Audiences will watch the story unfold within a meticulously designed snow globe, where crows take roost, icicles grow, and the moon sings above the forest and the fields.
