10:00 AM to 7:00 PM ”¢ August 13 By Dallas Johnson First Annual Bridging Festival & Mural Installation Celebration is Moving Through Phillips August 13th The Bridging Minneapolis Project is partnering with In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre to present The Bridging Festival, a hands-on, interactive event progressing throughout Phillips, East to West along 24th St, from Hiawatha to 35W. Midtown Phillips Festival

(MPNAI) invites you to enjoy music, food and community at its first annual “Midtown Phillips Festival,” an all-ages family event, Sat., July 23, at Stewart Park, 12th Ave. S. and E. 26th St. This is rain or shine, noon to 8 p.m. The park”'s gym will be available in case of rain. Co-sponsors with the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board, MPNAI also presents this event in association with the city”'s annual Aquatennial Celebration that celebrates Minneapolis”' famous lakes, rivers and parks. This neighborhood does not have lakes or rivers but it does have parks and the Midtown Greenway! In celebrating its diversity, the neighborhood showcases numerous athletic contests for all ages throughout the day at the Ben Casey baseball diamond and new soccer field ”“ both funded through contributions from the Minnesota Twins. April Artisans Bring MAY DAY Pageant
By Harvey Winje, In the Heart of the Beast The Annual May Day Parade and Festival is a harbinger and highlight of Spring exceeded only by the gatherings of all ages during April that produce this special pageant. You”'ve heard “April showers bring May flowers.” Well, April artisans will bring another May Day pageant. It is truly a “Miracle at The Avalon,” In the Heart of the Beast”'s Theatre at 1500 East Lake Street, where it is the first year for some people and for others, their 37th year. Folks of all ages will mold clay into shapes that layers of paper mache will change into life-like masks . It is truly a miracle of community building that uses imagination and transforms dumpster finds into magic dances of life. It is making the common things of life sacred.
