15th Av. St Paul”'s is 125 Years!

On October 31, 1887, six couples gathered in the home of Pr. Johan Ternstedt and his wife, to plant the seed for what became St. Paul”'s Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Pr. Ternstedt was a pastor at Augustana Lutheran downtown, but the “Mother Church” was growing so fast, and more and more Swedish families were moving into the Phillips community.  So the twelve people present at the Trenstedt”'s decided to plant a new church, named for the Apostle from Tarsus.

St. Paul”'s has been celebrating its 125th anniversary since last October, and the celebration will culminate in two special events.  On Saturday, October 27 at 6 pm, the Anniversary Banquet will be held in St. Paul”'s Fellowship Hall at 2742 15th Ave S.  The tickets are $20.00, and reservations can be made at stpaulscreate@gmail.com or 612-724-3862.

The anniversary year will end with a Festival Worship Service at St. Paul”'s on Sunday, November 4 at 3 pm.  There will be special music, and the preacher will be Bishop Ann Svennungsen of the Minneapolis Area Synod of the ELCA, the first woman to be elected bishop of a Lutheran synod in Minnesota.
