Coalition of Organizations Expose Human Rights Conditions in the US on the Global Stage
By WORLD WITHOUT GENOCIDE
In a modern-day David and Goliath story, a coalition of national non-profit organizations, led by World Without Genocide, has stepped onto the global stage to excoriate the United States over its human rights abuses. Coalitions submitted two reports to the United Nations Human Rights Council exposing systemic failures that undermine the rights and dignity of people across the nation. This move comes as part of the Universal Periodic Review, a process in which each UN member state is examined every 4.5 years for its human rights practices.
Like David facing Goliath, the coalition has exposed the United States, an all-powerful adversary, and provided critical information to members of the Human Rights Council who will conduct its human rights review of the US in November 2026. Coalition members will travel to UN headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, to stand before the international community and speak about the U.S. abridgment of the human rights to bodily autonomy and to a safe, clean, and sustainable environment.
Bodily autonomy encompasses the ability to make decisions about one’s own body, including health choices, protection from violence, all stages of reproduction, and the freedom to seek and access medical care. The coalition demonstrates that U.S. policies systematically remove these protections.
Additionally, the US has an obligation under international law to protect the rights to life, liberty, and security. The U.S. rollback of climate crisis protections and expansion of fossil fuel production and use actively violates these rights, particularly for vulnerable populations.
These reports, called Shadow Reports, allow civil society organizations to introduce critical issues that the country under review may have omitted or presented less than accurately or fully. World Without Genocide, the lead organization, is in Special Consultative Status to the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) which provides the opportunity to submit a Shadow Report.

Coalition members across the two reports include: World Without Genocide, Community Power, Compassion & Choices, Genocide Watch, ImPact Coalition on Strengthening International Judicial Institutions, Gender Justice, the Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy, and Transparenthood.
WORLD WITHOUT GENOCIDE promotes education and action to protect innocent people, prevent genocide, prosecute perpetrators, and remember those affected by genocide. World Without Genocide is formally associated with the UN Department of Global Communications and is in Special Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council since 2022. www.worldwithoutgenocide.org
