Backyard Initiative Circle of Healing CHAT: Our Vision

We are on a path to which we are called. The ultimate authority on our work is the calling. The ultimate development is our deepening communication with the calling. All illness is the resistance to the calling, the holding on to anything that will protect us from the total dissolution of self that Oneness with Calling requires. If all illness is a resistance, if all healing is a reconciliation with self, with the Creator, and with the blueprint for life and evolution, then what is the role of the healer? In the African tradition, the teacher is the student and the student is the teacher. The healer is a mirror for the patient; AND the patient is a mirror for the healer. Celebrating US Through the Midtown Global Market Music Festival! Sat., July 19 Ӣ 2 to 8 pm
For more than 150 years, the area now known as “Midtown” in Minneapolis, has been a gateway to Minnesota, and sometimes, the USA, for people arriving and resettling from around the world”“Asia, Africa, Europe and the Caribbean. Indigenous people from seven Nations also reside in Midtown making it the cultural crossroads of the Twin Cities. Aiding in that continued celebration and preservation of Midtown Minneapolis”'s cultural heritage is the Midtown Global Market (MGM), on the border between the Powderhorn and Phillips Communities. The Market provides a venue for these many cultural groups to observe their unique, individual roots and celebrate their legacy through music, food, and shared experiences while adding to rich vitality, history and strong community spirit of the area. Running Wolf Fitness Center and Connie Norman
By Lydia Caros Connie Norman was the face of Running Wolf Fitness Center (RW) for 4 years. She was a tireless worker who believed in the program and in promoting health in the local Native American community. She was a teacher/trainer for the Living In Balance classes at NACC and offered the classes to other Native organizations for years, as well as training community members to teach the class. Managing the Running Wolf program was a natural extension of those efforts. When NACC and IHB started to co-manage the Running Wolf program, it was clear that funding was going to be the most difficult issue. The clinics tried very hard to provide funding for the program; but neither clinic was able to fund the entire program out of their operational funds. Both clinics spent a significant amount of staff time and funding, but their financial support was meant to be temporary.
