“Hostiles”

The western genre is rare nowadays, director Scott Cooper”'s (“Crazy Horse”, “ Black Mass”, Out of the Furnace”) puts more a little meat into this western/adventure story. The film is served well by the cast — Christian Bale (Joseph J. Blocker), Wes Studi (Chief Yellow Hawk), Adam Beach Black Hawk), Rory Cochrane Metz) and Rosamund Pike (Rosalie Quaid). Set in 1892, during the presidency of Benjamin Harrison (the 23rd president of the United States), Captain J. Blocker reluctantly agrees to escort a dying Cheyenne war chief and his family back to tribal lands from Fort Berringer,  an Army outpost in New Mexico, to the land in Montana. However, the journey has many dangers. In some ways, “Hostiles” is similar to Clint Eastwood”'s “The Outlaw Josey Wales” (1976). Running times for “Hostiles” is 135 minutes.
