Fall Favorites with Minneapolis Edible Boulevards

Class instructor Natalia Mendez taught an awesome cooking class at the Tamales y Bicicletas Garden in September. Bean Tostadas were the star and featured many garden goodies: lettuce, tomatoes, onions, peppers, squash and garlic. Thank you to Seward Co-op, Herbivorous Butcher, and the Joint Green Zone Task Force for sponsoring September’s class and door prizes! On October 8, Kelly Shay of Harmonious World/Wellness will be making a delicious Three Sisters’ Salad at the Four Sisters Farm in South Minneapolis from 11am -12pm. Last Call to Apply for 2022 Edible Boulevards!
By MICHELLE SHAW Do you live in Cedar Riverside, Ventura Village, Midtown Phillips, Phillips West or East Phillips? If so, you are a resident of the Southside Green Zone and you’re eligible to apply for participation in the Minneapolis Edible Boulevards initiative. We have funding to go towards teaching people how to transform the space between the sidewalk and curb into an edible boulevard, as well as for soil testing, seeds, organic soil, and compost. An application is posted on our Minneapolis Edible Boulevards Facebook page, which we invite you to join. If you live in another neighborhood and want to participate, contact your neighborhood association to let them know you’d like them to partner with us. If you’re willing and able to volunteer in any way, we would greatly appreciate your help. Possibilities include co-administering our Facebook page, pick-up and delivery of compost and organic soil to garden build sites, help with gardening, photographing garden [...]
Last Free Edible Boulevards Cooking Class of the Winter

You buy the groceries and cook from your own kitchen; we'll provide the instruction from Kelly Shay of Harmonious World. In January, we made Hoppin' John, a Southern dish that's traditionally served on New Year's Day to bring prosperity and good fortune for the year ahead.
